Crossover Technology - What's the real story?

I've read where you really only need one Research Lab for all your planets.

Yet I have people in my Alliance that swears that using Crossover Technology to tie all your labs is the way to go.

Yet you only get a 2 percent increase, and only after lvl 2 crossover tech.

As the adviser of my alliance, I am trying to see both sides.

Has anyone used this technology? Is the cost of getting it worthwhile? Do you really get the boost like with Nanite Factories?

I searched these forums and it seems no one as asked about Crossover Tech, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Cross over tech is actually a relatively new addition, or readdition to the game. When the game was first released, it was a feature that was walked back due to allowing pay to win players to grow too quickly. Now with players and servers over 4 years old, the technology has been added back in to help newer players grow faster and catch up to the established players and servers. Most of what you see on the forum about the research lab is from before the rerelease of this ability.

Cross over tech is a good way to speed up research times, which also were revamped for shorter base times around the same time as the tech release. Now you won't want to spend too many resources on labs across all your planets, but if you have the spare radius, it certainly is a nice bonus. The biggest boost is going to come from your main lab. The boost each lvl of research lab gets exponentially smaller the higher the lab lvl. Lab lvl 18 is really that sweet spot in terms of cost and time boost. After that, you will get a larger benefit from investing in crossover tech than pushing the next lab lvl.

That said, when expanding the number of planets, larger radius is better than colder planets. Honestly, you'll regret settling for a planet radius less than 220, later in the game. The planet you designate for research must have a minimum radius of 230, if you want to properly develop the mines for the planet. Doing do will also allow you to better take advantage of the cross over tech.

I believe I understand it now, and I ran what you said by some of my established players and it is starting to make sense. Thank you.

However, I have a question, and it may be a typo on your part, or something else I do not know anything about, What is "do" in the very last sentence mean?

Thank again for you quick response.

Haha, yes it is a typo. "Do" should be "so."

I'm new to the game, and see so many abbreviations (FS, JS, DM, etc.) I am still learning them all! :D
